Mother’s Day
I dedicate this article to mother’s worldwide. To mothers of children and animals, to mothers of angels, and to expectant mothers with a full life of love and chaos ahead of them. I have the privilege of knowing my mom for the wonderful woman she is, and all the things she does.
The history of Mother’s day dates back to 1864, when Anna Jarvis was born amidst the bloody conflict of the Civil War. In 1868, Jarvis’ mother organized a “Mother’s Friendship Day”, to bring former enemies together to heal the wounds of war. The first observed Mother’s Day was May 10, 1908 in West Virginia.
Today, we honor our mothers and why they are so important in our lives. To those who have lost their mothers, this day is for remembering and celebrating a life of memories. No relationship with your mother is without flaws, but remember that your mother has never been a mother before and she was once a little girl who played with babydolls hoping to meet you one day.
As for me, I am truly blessed for the mother I have, who has never failed to place me on the highest pedestal.
Happy Mother’s Day.
