IS THIS THE MIAMI DOLPHINS YEAR?
Welcome to the Hard Rock Stadium. For many years, those words held very little to no weight. The truth of the matter was, no matter how many fans packed the home field, the Miami Dolphins were not a winning team. Dolphin fans have been treated to season after season of disappointment, but could this year be different? Can the Dolphins return to a winning status and finally give their fans something to root for? They just might.
The start of the 2022 NFL season has brought with it many big changes for the Dolphins organization. Although it is his third season as a Dolphin, the 2022 season is for all intents and purposes, budding star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s first true opportunity to showcase what he can do. Along with the addition of NFL star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, new head coach Mike McDaniel, and the rise of second-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins have crafted a dynamic and highly successful offense.
The Dolphins are averaging 25 points per game, along with 293 passing yards per game. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a passer rating of 118.4, and Tyreek Hill is on track to average 2,000 yards for the season. Now to put these numbers into perspective, they are very good. In fact, they may be too good, because if one is simply going based on the statistics this Dolphin’s team is outputting, then the 2022 Miami Dolphins may have the best offense in NFL history. Is this sustainable, probably not, but coupled with the Dolphins division topping a 7-3 record, they provide hope that there is success to be found with this team.
This Miami Dolphins team is young, filled with players adjusting to a new head coach, a new system, and new teammates. Logic will tell us the Dolphins should not be winning. Except they are. The Dolphins have won 4 straight games, and have not lost a game when Tua Tagovailoa plays from start to finish. The sky is the limit for this team. So, the question remains, is this the Miami Dolphin’s year? We will soon find out.
