Moments in Advice: Everything That May Be On Your Mind

As the first quarter of the year comes to a close, it is normal to have a plethora of things on your
mind. With deadlines, test dates, and college applications right around the corner, especially for
the upcoming graduates, stress is definitely a prominent emotion we have grown accustomed
to. However, with all this in mind, it is important to remember a few things as we go on.

Take Time For Yourself

With busy schedules and numerous extracurricular activities to attend to, it may become
exceedingly simple to place importance on things other than yourself. Oftentimes
responsibilities get in the way the time we used to dedicate to ourselves, and we find ourselves
stuck in a never-ending cycle we have yet to escape. When it comes to this, it is significant to
allocate your time as best you can. Rearrange your schedule in a way that suits you and gives
you time to do things you personally enjoy. Whether it be listening to music outside or spending
time with a loved one, it is vital to prioritize yourself and your mental health. In this way you will
become more motivated to fulfill your responsibilities and you will find yourself in a better mental
state as well.

Do Things That Work Best For You?

People work differently! What works for some people may not work best for you. Regardless of
what the situation may be, asking people for advice is nothing to shy away from; however, it is
critical that you know not everyone works the same. When it comes to school, some students
prefer to keep mental notes of the assignments they must complete and they perform better
relying on their memory. For others, they perform better preparing days in advance and having a
calendar to keep them on track.

In any instance, finding strategies that work best for you will always be beneficial. Not everyone
thrives from the same courses of action and you shouldn’t get frustrated with yourself if what is
working for your friend is not working for you. We are all original in the way we live, speak, and
think, categorizing your skills in the same as another may not be as helpful as you think.

You Are Not As Alone As You Feel

Despite what you may think, you are never as isolated as you feel. There have been people in
your position before and there will be various others in your position after; although, it is
important to note that if you ever feel alone in what you are going through, remember there are
people in your life that support you. As difficult as it may be to initially speak up about what you
may be going through, more times than not there are usually greater positive than negative
outcomes. And, if by any chance speaking to someone may not be as helpful as you may have
hoped, there are numerous other resources available to you as well. Anything from Youtube
videos to podcasts on Spotify can positively influence your life in unimaginable ways, it is simply
up to you to take into account your situation and what you can do to take yourself out of an
uncomfortable situation.

Remember that…

Everyone has things going on. Irrespective of your personal situation, we are all going through
the same waves and taking it day by day. It is important to stay present and in the moment,
rather than stress about what has yet to happen, and remember to be kind to yourself both
physically and mentally. The only way to truly thrive is to take care of yourself first, and then
regard everything else.
