A look Into FIT: Fashion Institute of Technology
In the bustling heart of New York City lies a school of creativity, style, and diversity – The
Fashion Institute of Technology. Known as the best fashion school in the world, FIT produces
some of the fashion industries greatest minds. It is recognized yearly for its incredible programs,
events, and community work. A couple of Doral’s seniors have applied to the school and are
anxiously waiting to hear back, including myself. Decisions come out at the end of the month, so
let’s see what makes FIT standout in the world of fashion.
First of all, The Fashion Institute offers 36 different programs for both undergraduate and
graduate students. Whether you love the design side of fashion or the business side, the school
has a major for you. Not only are the class curriculums extremely interesting, but also the
internship opportunities offered are amazing for networking in the industry. Gucci, Ralph
Lauren, and Tory Burch are some of the several brands that provide internships. This allows
students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. It’s the perfect way
to prepare for a job beyond graduation.
Also, being located in one of the world’s fashion capitals definitely helps. New York City is
home to so many brands and fashion events, that it is perfect for FIT students to live in. They
have the chance to volunteer at New York fashion week and even assist designers. These are
opportunities that you might not find in other cities, so Manhattan is 100% the best place to study
fashion.
All in all, The Fashion Institute of Technology is the ideal school for students who have a
passion for innovation, art, and fashion. It constantly inspires and promotes creativity, which is
why so many people love the college. Everyone has creative freedom and uses fashion as an
outlet for self expression. It’s extremely nerve wracking waiting for decisions to be released, but
all we can do is hope for the best, and hopefully we’ll be packing our bags to New York City this
fall.
